4th Parallax Meeting!

What: Potluck barbecue and pumpkin pinhole making hangout (pumpkins provided)
Why you should come: Hang out with your photo peeps, make awesome pinhole cameras, eat some delicious grilled food.

More Info:
We'll be getting together for a potluck barbecue and making pumpkin pin hole cameras!

Bring stuff you want to throw on the grill, and make sure you come early/on time because pumpkins are first come-first serve.
Make sure to email Jessica @ ntparallax@gmail.com and let her know what you plan to bring so we don't end up with all of the same thing!!

Hey PARALLAX kiddos!

Our third meeting is upon us, and we're super stoked! We're going to be doing things a little differently this time- There are going to be TWO meetings.

The first meeting will be Wednesday, Oct. 5th, in the photo lab in Oak Street Hall from 2:10-2:30.

The second meeting will Thursday, Oct. 6th at Krystal's house (816 West Sycamore Street) at 6:00, with an informal critique / hang out afterwards.

The SAME INFORMATION will be given at both meetings, we just want to see the kids who aren't able to come on Thursday nights. (We miss them)

Just some reminders for this meeting:

-Dues are still due
-T-shirt designs are due
-Images for the fall festival would be nice

Ice Cream Social with artist Melanie McWhorter

This Wednesday, Septerber 14th, Artist Melanie McWhorter, of Photo-eye and Finitefoto, gave a lecture on Photobooks in Paho Mann's Photo in the Web class. Nine graduate students and four faculty (Dornith Doherty, Tom Leininger, Letitia Huckaby and Betsy Williamson) also attended. Afterwards all that attended the lecture along with Parallax members were invited to Beth Marie's for an ice cream social. A great time was had by all!

Second Meeting!!

Hey PARALLAX kids!

The second meeting will be coming up on Thursday, September 22 @ 6pm in Oak Street Hall!

Having just finished an excellent show- and it was an absolutely excellent show- it's about time for a meeting! There's going to be a quick bit of information at the beginning, all of which is VERY important and VERY exciting for all of us. (Hints: Get your design thinking caps... And getting to work with famous people!)

After our informational section, we're going to do an informal critique for anyone who......'s interested. We know that some critiques are coming up and we want you guys to be able to hear from everyone from all walks of the photo path. Don't be shy! We're all very friendly and it can be incredibly helpful.

And after all of that, we will be going to Krystal McElheney's house (816 West Sycamore Street, it's a four minute walk from the art building) for BREAKFAST! Now, this is completely optional, but who doesn't love breakfast for dinner? We'll be having pancakes, and if you'd like to show off some other delicious side dish that you make oh-so-well, they are more than welcome. We'll also be playing some photography documentaries so we can all be inspired with full bellies.

It's going to be a lot of fun and very productive, so come out!

Quick reminder- dues are due by this meeting ($10). Dues are how we pay for shows and food and for the activities that we do! If dues aren't turned in, you'll be taken off the email list and won't be able to participate in future shows. If there's a problem, just email us! :]

Hey guys! Thank you for coming out! There were seriously so many of you, it was incredible.
Here's a quick outline of what we covered in the meeting:

Lightwell Gallery Show:
(aka: Parallax Presents the Best Little Art Show in Texas)
-Work in a marked closet in the Photo Lab in Oak Street Hall
-Due by Sunday, September 4th by ONEpm
-Maximum of FOUR images
-Turn it in with your NAME, TITLE, MEDIA, and PHONE NUMBER
-Also turn it in with PLEXIGLASS
-Closing reception is Thursday, September 8th at SEVENpm. Bring a nommy dish for some potluck fun!
-IF YOU WANT TO HELP HANG: this will be going on a TWOpm on Sunday, September 4th

Membership Dues:
-$10, please
-This is to help pay for shows, get-togethers, and supplies that go towards the betterment of the club. We love being able to buy you things. With your money.

Guest Artist Lecture:
-September 14th, Melanie McWhorter is coming to visit
-Artist Talk at SIXpm in room 313 in the Art Building
-Workshop on September 15th and 16th. Don't sign up if you're not serious, there are only fifteen spots and some photo majors get pretty vicious.

Midlothian Fall Festival:
-October 15th, we're having a fundraiser. If you want to donate images to sell as prints, keep that in mind. (Midlothian is a conservative town, so please no tah-tahs or peens)

{PARALLAX} Pancake Potluck is CANCELED!

Hi all! Sorry to say but we have had some complications and have to cancel the potluck event tomorrow! I want to say thank you those of you who planned on being there tomorrow and participating, but don't fret we are planning on rescheduling it within the first couplel weeks of fall classes!!!!

Again sorry for this late minute notice, but some unforeseen things are preventing us from grubbing on a delicious pancake breakfast tomorrow. The shindig on the 27th is still on and will happen for sure.

We're hosting another Parallax Breakfast Club event and this time we're going to do a potluck with breakfast foods! Parallax will provide the pancakes and syrup, and we will have you all bring the yummy sides!
This is just another event to get to know each other and hang out before classes start for fall. Plus we get to eat pancakes!!
