Update 2012

We're Back!

Unfortunately this update is long overdue.

We've have a great Spring this semester and from the looks of it, 2012 will only get BETTER!

Just to catch all of our readers up on our eventful Spring here's whats been going on.

We had a slow start but after much planning and coordinating we managed to put together two AMAZING! shows.

Suspended was a show we had in March at the Panhandle House in our hometown Denton. After contemplating on having a show that would be totally different and DEFY everything you know about photography Suspended sprung out and did exactly that. Photographs were hung from the ceiling, ran along open space and even on hanging walls. The responses were pretty magnificent as people could walk through our exhibition and get a taste of each of our member's distinct style.

The Show was a Success!

In April, Nooks and Crannies was held at the Fort Worth Community Arts Center; thanks to one of our very own members and Fort Worth local, Raul Rodriguez. Nooks and Crannies kept our defying spirit up putting together a great show that questioned the role photography plays in our homes and in the art world. Another great turn out and response as the show was very well taken.

SUCCESS once more!

Entry Review is here!

The time has come for our Photo II students to give it everything they've got for their acceptance into the CVAD Photography program. Everyone in our upper classmate list knows the stress that is Entry Review. Fortunately, this was the third year Parallax has held their Entry Review Portfolio Workshop. Providing help, criticism and anything needed for our under classmates to prepare. Good luck to all of you!

Aside from our exhibitions and workshop, Parallax has grown big enough that we decided it was time to show our pride. This year is the first we've been able to make our very own PARALLAX T SHIRTS!

It has been an exciting Spring INDEED.

But as the semester comes to an end, We've got several of our members, including our very own President Jessica Power, and those in UNT's photography program, graduating and exiting the daily associations found at our beloved lab in Oak Street Hall. Best of luck to all of those graduating this coming May 2012, and may we encounter Y'all (cause this is Texas) in your promising future.

A few more notes on our activities to come:

May 3rd- Our Senior Class will be having a reception for their senior exhibition, In Search Of. The show will take place at the Cora Stafford Gallery in OSH, and the reception will be from 5-7PM.

Apart from the Farewell from our Seniors, we will be having a number of celebrations (both for our graduates and for this wonderful semester.)

May 10th and 11th- Our final meeting of the semester will bring new officers and junior candidates to Parallax as Elections give way.

May 18th- Although tentative, Parallax is planning a Hotel Show to wrap up our exhibition calender this Spring. Hope for the best!

We will try to update Y'all more frequently!
